I have been doing all kinds of stuff lately, but this has been the only thing I've finished and put up. It looks really nice with all the other "art" on that wall, and I love that it has things like Chris' old car keys (to good old Butch) and other stuff that might be thrown away (eg an old toe ring, necklace charms, an old earing).

Holiday Fun: Project #1

I have been having so much fun looking at other people's holiday projects on different blogs, that I decided to share a few of mine here on my blog. First of all comes the project I did today.


I found this idea on http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/golden/2008/11/cardboard-crafts.html , and it was super easy to do, I cut out leaves from some Cardboard I had in the recycling bin, and some patterned Christmas papers. Then I cut out a large circle of cardboard, and glued my leaves on in layers, leaving a small space to loop the ribbon around at the top. Finally I glued some holiday colored buttons on top, in a random scattered way to bring all the colors together.

Waterfall

We went down to the Legislature Grounds last night to see the man made water fall that falls off of the High Level Bridge. We started up by the Legislature, and walked around, down to the LRT bridge. Before we made it onto the bridge, we found a well worn trail down to the river bed. Since it was dark, and I had all my camera equipment with me, we cautiously made our way down, and then followed the river, taking pictures along the way. We had an awesome time, and really enjoyed a chance to get out together. You can click on the pictures to view them larger.

Fashion Shoot

My sister Wendy and I went out last night and brought along a whole bunch of fun outfits for a bit of a fashion shoot. We went to three different locations, and with the outfit changes, we got a ton of cool shots. Here's just a few.

a photo i love

every once and awhile, i take a photo that i really, really love. There are so many parts of this photo that i think work really well, the out of focus church in the background, with the neat wrought iron gate in front, the blue of the sky, i even like the slight crookedness that i know i should probably just fix in photoshop, the thing is, I know that i hold my camera crooked when i shoot, and i kind of just like how it works in this photo. The biggest secret (and also my favorite part) of this photo is the sunflare.... looks pretty real right? Nope. I just discovered the Flare filter in Photoshop CS..... now the thing to do is NOT use it in every photo i take....... i wonder if i can do that?

Beads

My mom is really into jewelrey making at the moment, and here is a sample of a bracelet she made. She uses these really cool hand blown glass beads, and adds nice sparkle to them with smaller beads and little silver beads.

Explore

one of the things about flickr that is fun is that every day they choose the top 500 images to be put into the "interestingness" list, or otherwise named explore. While you really want to pretend that the reason you "flickr" is not because you think that every picture you upload is worthy of explore (even though, if you're honest with yourself, you kind of believe that) but because of the quality of other's photos and the community experience. Still, it sure is nice when a photo makes it into Explore. These are my two images that have been deemed interesting enough to warrent a peep in explore. buzzing with the bees

while we were at my parents house on the weekend, i found this bee buzzing around this yellow flower. He was quite obliging, he buzzed into the frame, and then sat very still, long enough for me to take a few shots!

I found some new flickr toys on photojojo..... this could be fun!

Here is the first of many pictures that i took while we were in Chicago. I loved going to Millennium Park and taking some pictures at "the bean". When we left the Museum of Science and Industry it was pouring rain. As we drove up Lakeshore Drive, it cleared up to the point where we were able to take lots of neat pictures, and see some of the sights that Chicago had to offer.

I don't know how many pictures I have of Chris with his mouth open..... he jumps in front of the camera and opens his mouth...... his mouth is not a terribly interesting subject, but I thought this one was kinda cute.... i was just trying to get a picture of the leaves!

Hair Cut!

I went yesterday to get my haircut before we leave for our busy July! I'm super excited to go down to Wisconsin to see all of our family there, and introduce them to Chris! Then we're off to Vancouver Island for Shari's wedding.

As I have a bit more time these days, I've been thinking more and more about trying to blog a little more often, and keep this up! (also my flickr account..... i rarely upload any more)... so heres a June resolution to do more blogging and picture taking!!
